IND vs SA: Rohit Sharma to lead in T20Is and KL Rahul to captain the ODI side

Rohit Sharma is all set to lead India in a three-match T20I series for the upcoming tour of South Africa while KL Rahul will lead the ODI leg of the tour.

Rohit has been rested for the Indian ODI side. He will be leading the Indian Test team. With Hardik Pandya not there the selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar decided to name Sharma Indian team T20 captain

As this paper reported earlier Virat Kohli has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of his decision to take a break. India will play three T20 internationals, and three ODIs, followed by two Test matches during the tour of South Africa.

“He (Kohli) has informed the BCCI and selectors that he needs a break from white-ball cricket and he will get back to them about when he wants to play white ball cricket next. At the moment he has informed the BCCI that he will be playing red-ball cricket, which means he is available for selection for the two Test matches in South Africa,” a source said.

Surya Kumar Yadav has been rested for the Indian ODI side as he has been playing non-stop cricket.

Shreyas Iyer makes a way back into the Indian Test team. No place for Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara. The reason the Indian selection committee picked Iyer over Ajinkya Rahane in the Test is that Rahane had made his way back to the Indian team after Iyer got injured. As Iyer has regained his fitness the selection committee and Indian captain Rohit Sharma felt that Iyer should make a comeback in the Indian side.

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed ShamiMohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, and R Ashwin make a way in the Indian Test team. Kuldeep Yadav was picked for the Indian T20 team.
