RCB power-hitter Dinesh Karthik to return to commentary box for Ashes 2023 after IPL 2023

India’s veteran wicketkeeper-batter and RCB Player Dinesh Karthik confirmed on Thursday that he will return as a commentator during the 2023 Ashes after the IPL 2023.

The five-match Ashes series will take place in June and July at Edgbaston, Lord’s, Headingley, Old Trafford, and The Oval. Australia currently holds the Ashes, having won the series 4-0 in 2021-22.

Karthik, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) keeper-batter, has been named to the Sky Sports commentary team for the Ashes 2023. The 37-year-old is one of the team’s prominent names, which also includes Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Kevin Pietersen, Eoin Morgan, Mel Jones, Kumar Sangakkara, Mark Taylor, Mark Butcher, Ricky Ponting, Ian Ward, and Andrew Strauss.

“One MASSIVE announcement before the IPL as a player starts. So proud to be amongst these legends. Surreal feeling. Just felt like sharing! Bas. That’s all.

Karthik will compete in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins on March 31st, ahead of the 2023 Ashes. Gujarat Titans (GT) will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the tournament opener at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Karthik had a stellar IPL season last year, earning the nickname “finisher” for his ability to end innings on a high note for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. His performance in the IPL earned him a spot in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup in 2022.

RCB has now shared a video of the swashbuckling player in various moods while practicing ahead of this season’s edition. Karthik, who scored 330 runs last year, will be hoping to maintain his form this time around.

Meanwhile, RCB will open their IPL campaign on April 2 against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
