Image
Lionel Messi  has yet again stunned fans with his magic. This time, the Argentine caught everyone’s attention with his unique free-kick after his clutch goal against Lille on Sunday. In a video doing the rounds on social media, the 35-year footballer can be seen netting a goal with a nearly ankle-snapping technique for his side in the 94th minute of the game. Lionel Messi slotted home the winner deep in added time from a free kick, with a lethal left-footed shot into the bottom right corner. He placed his right foot when he took the set piece, while his ankle appeared seemingly broken. Since the video surfaced on the internet, grimacing fans have reacted to it. Another wrote, “Lionel Messi’s feet aren’t normal, he borrowed them from aliens. Sometimes I think this guy’s ankle doesn’t have bones. Outlandish.” A third said, “Only God knows how he can take a freekick like that and not break his ankle,” commented a third, while a fourth wrote: “Messi got a carbon ankle.” Meanwhil...

for India ODIs 2023 Maxwell, Marsh and Richardson returns.

Image
Marsh has not played since the three-match  ODI  series against England in November last year the week after the T20 World Cup after undergoing ankle surgery. Glenn Maxwell , Mitchell Marsh, and Jhye Richardson are set to make long-awaited returns to international cricket in the upcoming three-match ODI series against India after being named alongside skipper Pat Cummins, David Warner, and Ashton Agar in Australia’s 16-man squad. But Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the ODIs after flying home from the Test series due to Achilles tendonitis as selectors opted for him to continue his recovery at home with an eye to the World Test Championship final and the Ashes, following his intended involvement in the IPL. “It would be great for Josh to be part of this series but we have taken a conservative view ahead of a very important winter in England of which he will be an integral part,” Australia Chairman of selector...

Cristiano Ronaldo(CR7) was never a target, says Borussia Dortmund’s managing director

Image
Borussia Dortmund managing director Carsten Cramer has cleared that the Bundesliga team did not pursue a move for  Cristiano Ronaldo  after the Portuguese international’s Manchester United contract was terminated following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan. Dortmund had been heavily linked with Ronaldo last summer. Cramer, while speaking to the German magazine Kicker, said that Dortmund’s value does not “depend on social media followers.” “The value of Borussia Dortmund does not depend on social media followers,” he said. “We are a football club, that’s the key. We can have the best ideas in marketing, but if we lose 3-0 at home to Freiburg, it doesn’t work. “Even with the best brand presentation, the be-all and end-all is the product.” After being linked with several clubs, Ronaldo has signed by Saudi Arabia club Al Nassr for a reportedly £177m per year. Earlier, Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl too had denied the claims that the club wanted to sign Ronaldo. ...

‘Gautam Gambhir asked me to open. Oppositions didn’t take me seriously’: Star all-rounder hails India great’s big gamble

Image
Besides being one of Indian cricket’s finest opening batters,  Gautam Gambhir   was also a great leader and a master tactician. Gautam Gambhir never got the opportunity to captain the Indian team because let’s face it – he was at his prime under MS Dhoni – but that did not stop him from sharpening his leadership skills, which he unleashed while captaining Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. During his six-year-stint leading KKR, Gambhir dished out a few masterstrokes, which went a long way in the success of the franchise. Not only did KKR become IPL champions twice in three years, but emerged to be one of the top teams across the Indian Premier League. A few of Gautam Gambhir’s greatest gambles were replacing Brendon McCullum with Manvinder Bisla in the IPL 2012 final, and bringing Jacques Kallis into the team ahead of Shakib Al Hasan in 2014. Both decisions proved to bring wonders for KKR as in both seasons they lifted the title. However, another Gautam Gambhir masterstr...

IND vs AUS 2023: Stripped of vice-captaincy, KL Rahul to lose playing XI spot to Shubman Gill for Indore Test

Image
The long rope that  KL Rahul   has been enjoying in Test cricket despite the lack of big scores is beginning to look like a thin thread now. From captaining the side only a couple of months ago in Rohit Sharma’s absence in Bangladesh, the opener now has lost the vice-captaincy for the remaining two Tests against Australia and is in line to miss his place in the XI to Shubman Gill. For a player whose very place in the squad has been subject to scrutiny, Rahul might feel retaining the place in itself is huge, especially because for a change the selectors and the team management have decided not to go with popular sentiment. Instead, they have chosen to retain faith in a player, who appears to be massively short on confidence. In 47 Tests, Rahul averages only 33.44 and since scoring the last of his seven centuries against South Africa in Centurion, he has scores of 23, 50, 8, 12, 10, 22, 23, 10, 2, 20, 17, 1. And with each outing, the calls have only increased to drop him,...
